Implant
An implant is an artificial tooth root made of titanium which is placed in jaw bone surgically. It is used for keeping a denture or a group of dentures in their place. Thus, they serve as if they are natural tooth roots.
It is decided whether the patient is suitable for the treatment after the evaluation of the patient’s state of systemic health, a rigorous oral examination and necessary radiographic examinations and measurements. The treatment starts with local anesthesia. The implants are placed in jaw bones with a short surgical operation. The duration of osseointegration (integration of titanium and bones) is about 2-3 months. It is necessary to have a decent bone structure and really healthy gums for a successful implant treatment. Various methods like bone meal (graft) are used in bone thickening treatment in case of weak jaw bones. This treatment lasts for 6 months. Then, the implants serve as natural tooth roots. After required checks, the treatment is administered.
What’s the Success Rate of Implant Treatment?
It has a success rate of 95-97% depending on the bone structure of the patient and osseointegration.
Is There Any Age Restriction for Implant Treatment?
Bone development must be completed for implant treatment. For this reason, patients below 18 cannot receive implant treatment. Apart from that, older adults can get implant treatment.
Should You Prefer Implement Treatment or Getting a Dental Bridge with Cutting Adjacent Teeth in Case of Only One Missing Tooth?
Bridge Treatment is a common treatment administered for curing missing tooth and it relieves the patient as it cures lack of chewing. However, implant treatment is a better alternative if adjacent teeth are healthy and the patient is suitable for the treatment. Implant treatment is really advantageous because it does no harm to adjacent teeth and it protects the bone structure.
Will You Remain Edentulous Until the Dentures Are Prepared After the Surgery?
After the surgery, the patient must wait for osseointegration around 2-3 months. During this process, the patient is not left edentulous as temporary dentures are applied to the patient.
What’s the Best Implant Company?
It is not possible to say which of the implant companies is the best today. Nowadays, many of them are called “the best”. The intention of offering options is to provide patients an opportunity to choose the treatment which is suitable for their budget.
Why Are There Different Prices? Are Affordable Implants Less Confidential?
The prices gap between different implant brands stems from conducted research-development and the support given to case studies. Global prevalence and having been producing implants for long years also affect the price. There are implant companies which are new yet assertive and use every means available to succeed. Price gap should not impress the idea “The affordable one is less confidential” on patients.
SINUS LIFTING
The bone needs to be voluminous and dense enough so that the implant treatment can be applied. Sinus lifting AKA Sinus Lift Operation is administered for condensing the present bone or osteogenesis. In some cases, sinus lifting is necessary to have durable and healthful implants.
There are several appliances about sinus lifting. The most known are open-sinus surgery and closed-sinus surgery.
- Open-sinus surgery is technique which is preferred when the bone height is below 3-4mm and which aims at osteogenesis. After reaching the sinus through the implant gap, sinus membrane is removed and bone meal (graft) is embedded in. Following that, the patient must wait for bony tissue there to densify before implant treatment. Although duration of condensation varies from patient to patient, it generally lasts around 6 months. After waiting for 6 months, bony tissue becomes ready for implant treatment if open-sinus surgery is successful. Then, implant treatment can be administered.
- Closed-sinus surgery is a technique which is preferred when the bone height is above 5mm and which enables the placement of the implants at the same time. Implant treatment may be applied during the same session after the surgery if there are not any complications.
ALL ON FOUR TECHNIQUE
All on Four Technique is a procedure which enables fixing a temporary denture on four dental implants that are placed in the mouth of fully edentulous patients with some certain angles within the same day. Two or three months later, temporary dentures are displaced and the permanent ones are fixed. Surgical operations are the same as the other implant surgeries. The only difference between them is that the implants on rear are placed with different angles in All-On-Four Technique. This operation eliminates surgeries such as sinus lifting in some cases. Therefore, the number of the surgeries which the patients have undergone decreases.
The Advantages of All On Four Technique
- All-On-Four is an alternative for the patients who want a fixed dental restoration within one day.
- Another advantage of All-On-Four has is that there is no need for bone meal (graft). It is a more preferred treatment for those who lost a considerable amount of bony tissue in jaw.
- This technique has the comfort and safety which are not present in removable dentures. For this reason, it can be applied to those who want to get rid of their removable dentures.
- As the number of the required sessions are fewer, it is reasonable for those who live abroad.
